Abstract:
The tea party has been identified by most mass media sources as a separate but related element of the Republican Party. This paper adds to a new body of literature on the tea party by using survey data to, first, identify the similarities and differences between those who identify as part of the tea party and those who identify as Republican; and second, analyze the implications of media use on political variables.
